CP was founded in 2003 by a group of filmmakers and travelers with production experience in over 20 countries for a variety of causes and clients. Our work ranges from feature length documentary film production to short films and webisodes. We produced the feature documentary Dear Francis, about AIDS in Swaziland, which aired on Showtime television and The Movie Channel. Chronicle Project is also the production entity behind the Deidox film series. More examples of our work can be found through the clients page.

Producer | David Mahanes
David has overseen the production of documentaries, promotional videos, and short films over the last four years, including the award-winning documentary Dear Francis. He has produced and filmed projects in several countries including, Swaziland, Rwanda, Kenya, Mexico, Turkey, Thailand, and Morocco. Previously David worked with I-40 Films, a film/video production company, where he oversaw the production of commercials including award winning spots for Ford and the Carolina Hurricanes.

Director | Brent Gudgel
Brent has directed documentaries, promotional videos, and short films over the past four years, including Dear Francis and the Deidox films. He has directed productions in over 20 countries including Vietnam, Thailand, China, Tibet, Uzbekistan, Tanzania, Indonesia, and the Czech Republic. Prior to joining the CP team, Brent directed projects for clients such as Ford, English Language Institute China, and the Crisis Pregnancy Center. He also directed the short films Athena’s Drive-Through Counseling Center and Smokin’ the Habit, both winning awards at film festivals.

Every year, 1.5 million Americans go overseas on missions trips, spending over $1 billion in the process. This documentary examines the effectiveness of one trip, as an example of the larger industry. Produced in partnership with Azusa Pacific University and their Mexico Outreach program. Their willingness to be honest and transparent was inspiring.

A short documentary story for the Los Angeles Police Foundation and their JIP program. The video was used at their annual Gala fundraiser event in addition to online avenues.

We have produced over 45 short documentary films for Union Rescue Mission over the last few years. The series, called “Stories from Skid Row,” chronicles what life looks like living in and around one of the largest rescue missions in the country. See more in the series here on our website.
